Brick Replacement
Causes & Solutions – Excessive moisture present within a brick structure causes ‘flaking’ or ‘spalling’ during the freeze-thaw cycle. This action will eventually necessitate the brick replacement of the damaged brick units.
When too much water is absorbed by bricks they start to flake after several freeze-thaw cycles. By the time this flaking or spalling is manifest or visible then the only long term solution is a brick replacement to replace the damage bricks in the affected areas or perform a complete rebuild. The bricks are cut out with a diamond saw with needed or necessary shoring placed in position to support the upper masonry portion of the wall. Then new bricks are purchased and used to fill the opening.
Once the bricks have been installed and the mortar tuck pointing in the areas needed, we apply a stain to needed areas to blend the repair in with the original to appear as seamless as possible.
Making a repair seamless is what we do. We often stain the repair area to blend in with the existing masonry. Though this can be time consuming and tedious work, no one wants an ugly repair so we make the extra effort to make the repair blend in seamlessly.
