Window Lintel Replacement

This window lintel was deteriorated and starting to expand. As the lintel expands it lifts the masonry above the windows and causing crack. The cracks allow water to enter the wall system creating more corrosion and of course more damage. This customer was prudent in addressing this lintel replacement before the damage got too severe.

All the bricks above the window opening were cut out with a diamond saw and saved for re-use. Many contractors don't take care in the brick removal process and damage the bricks as they are removed so replacement bricks are necessary. You cannot always find replacement bricks that match the existing house bricks.

We always take the time and the attention to detail to salvage the bricks as we remove the lintel. This assures our customers a perfect match when the bricks are put back into place above the new lintel. Though we cannot guarantee salvaging all the bricks 100% of the time, we've had good success with this process.

Read the repair descriptions below in the photos to better understand how a window lintel replacement repair is performed.

This is the finished installation. For this particular repair the homeowner had additional trim to install around this window, where you will see the insulation, to finish it off. Noticed how we were able to perfectly blend the brick and mortar replacement with the existing masonry? That is because we reused the existing bricks and stained them along with the mortar joints to match the existing.
