Brick Repair in Greater Cincinnati
Olde World Masons does small brick repairs including cracks, failed joints, and damaged brick. We service the Greater Cincinnati, Southern Ohio, Southeast Indiana and Northern Kentucky area. A good repair should sit well within the wall and appear seamless from 10 to 20 feet. Up close a repair can sometimes still be a bit visible.
This is small brick and crack repair work not a rebuilding of house walls, chimneys or patio walls.

Common Questions
Can I use caulk to repair cracks in my bricks?
Answer – Many customers have used caulk they buy from the big box stores. Unfortunately, the caulk usually leaves a nasty and unsightly DIY repair. Many of our repairs require the removal of this caulk (which can damage the masonry). We make our best attempt to blend the repair in with the wall. We do not recommend the use of caulk to fill cracks.
Is this a small brick repair?… or do I need a bigger rebuild?
Answer – We only address the repair of small cracks and missing mortar etc. If your bricks are ‘spalling’ (flaking off) then you need a rebuild. You will have to contact a full service masonry contractor for this type of repair.
What’s causing the cracked or damaged brick?
Answer – Almost all cracks are caused by building movement. Our repair will close off the crack and make it presentable but the crack could re-open if the building continues to move. You may wish to contact a structural engineer if you are concerned about this.
Will the repair stop water from getting behind the wall?
Answer – Bricks are natural sponges so our repair will only prevent water from coming in through the repair area; such as a crack. If you have severe water entry, the crack repair will not solve this. You likely have other issues and may require flashing replacement.
How long does a typical brick repair take?
Answer – Most of our projects take from 3 – 6 hours. Of course depending on the scale can stretch into a day or two.
Do you clean up when you’re done?
Answer – Yes where needed we place tarps in the work areas and clean up after we complete the repair.
What’s included in the estimate?
Answer – Your estimate will define the scope of your repair in detail with photos and descriptions.
How do I text photos for an estimate?
Answer – Just use your phone, take snapshots of the repair areas and text them to Michael 513-403-3344.
Do you set appointments?
Answer – No appointment windows. Michael will stop by and look at the repair and use your photos for details.
Will I see the patch from the street?
Answer – Our goal is to have a seamless repair. From about 10 to 20 feet it should blend into the wall. Up close, a patch can still occasionally show.
Do you rebuild chimneys or retaining walls?
Answer – No chimneys but maybe small walls. This is mostly small repair work — cracks, failed joints, and patches.
How long until a receive an estimate?
Answer – Usually 1 to 7 days after he has looked at the job. Once he figures the estimate he will email a PDF to you. He prices after he sees the wall — there is no price list on the site.
