Tuckpointing is the placement of fresh pointing mortar placed into an old mortar joint that is missing mortar. It is not a structural defect of the masonry system but a sign of aging of the masonry structure.
Quality tuckpointing service can last along time but it cannot fix the movement of buildings, water infiltration from gutters, downspouts or leaks. It is used to secure the masonry wall and revitalize the joints that are being tuckpointed.

Can you match my existing mortar color?
Answer: Yes we make great efforts to blend the repair the best we can. Though it’s almost impossible to simulate age though we do our best!
Will tuckpointing stop water from soaking into the joints?
Answer: Generally small tuckpointing repairs will not solve water leak issues. It can and does but if you have a leak, we have no way of knowing where your leak is coming from or why it is occurring. Our purpose is to provide integrity to the masonry system. Stooping leaks is a side benefit that we cannot control.
How much of the wall needs it — spots or the whole face?
Answer: We do not do full blown restorations. Usually we are contacted for unsightly cracks or missing chunks of mortar in a wall. That is what we serve.
How long does tuckpointing usually take?
Answer: Most tuckpointing repairs can take as little as an hour or so but can take a day or two if damage is excessive.
What if you find worse damage once the old mortar is out?
Answer: We evaluate before we do a repair and have never encountered this situation so it’s likely not something to worry about.
